If you've never tried spread betting - why not? Find out how to clean up BIG TIME at Sporting Index

A Beginner’s Guide to Profitable Sports Spread Betting

Tired of small returns from fixed odds? It’s time to try something new. Did you know you can make massive profits from small stakes by spread betting at Sporting Index….

For many people, there is a stigma attached to spread betting. Some people see it as too risky, and others say it’s too complicated, or don’t understand what is actually involved. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. Spread betting is really quite simple, and the risks can be strictly controlled in just the same way as with traditional fixed odds betting. But there is one huge benefit to spread betting, which is - the more right you are, the more you win

Let me explain. Let’s say for example, the spread betting company might predict that the first goal in a match between Tottenham and Manchester United will be scored in the 36th minute and consequently they will set a spread of 35-37 minutes.

Now if you disagree with their prediction and you believe there is bound to be an early goal, you would go low (sell) at 35 minutes. If the 1st goal is scored in the 25th minute, you win 10 times your stake (35 minutes take away 25 minutes = 10). If the first goal is scored in the first minute, you would win 34 times your stake!

How to Control the Risk

Now of course the opposite is also true – if the first goal is not scored until the 50th minute, you would lose 15 times your stake. However the risk can be strictly controlled just the same as if you placed a fixed odds bet.

Like all forms of betting, it’s only as risky as you want it to be. By controlling the size of your stake, you are controlling how much risk you are willing to take on. It’s exactly like one bettor having a £2,000 fixed-odds bet on a team to win versus one who has £20 – it’s all down to what you feel comfortable with.

Additionally, a Stop Loss account is a good way of controlling the perceived risk of spread betting. With this type of account, every bet you place has a maximum win and loss limit applied but again, it correlates directly with the stake you choose. That’s the important thing to remember, it all comes back to the stake size. And as Sporting Index accepts stakes as low as £0.05 on some markets, you can get started and practise your techniques while only risking a few pence at a time, then build up gradually.

Taking Profits In-Play

Unlike a fixed-odds bet where you have to wait for an event to reach its conclusion before receiving a payout, you have the power to take a profit on any spread bet as soon as it becomes available (or cut your losses if things aren’t going to plan).

While betting exchanges allow punters to hedge their positions by laying back their selections at skinnier odds, many exchange markets are not fast moving enough for this to happen, or lack the liquidity to allow you to do it in the levels you might require. There are no such limitations with spread betting!

And of course with the ability to trade a bet in-play, if you see a bet is starting to go against you and you are no longer comfortable with your position, you can close out of your bet and take a small loss ‘ something you simply cannot do with a fixed-odds bet where you are stuck with the loss in its entirety.

So – How Do I Make Money?

The spread betting companies have people who are employed to set the prices on all of their markets, but the problem they have is that the range of markets they offer is HUGE. They cannot possibly be accurate in their prices on every single one of those markets, there just aren’t enough hours in the day. Sometimes they will have to guess and that is your opportunity to profit.

The key to making a profit from spread betting is to do your research. The whole thing is based on statistics, and you need to find an area that you are interested in and specialise in it. That’s the way to beat the spread on a consistent basis.

Let’s say for example that football is your sport. Maybe you want to focus on teams (like maybe Chelsea) that regularly win a lot of corners. What you can do is buy corners at the start of your team’s game, and sell corners at the end when they have won a high number.

Or maybe you have spotted a team (like Fulham for example) who consistently get a very low number of yellow and red cards. You can sell cards at the start of a Fulham game at a high price, and buy cards at the end for a lower price once you know that hardly and cards have been shown.

You can use the Opta stats that are available online or in newspapers in order to find statistical trends like these, and then use them time and time again to make a regular profit from the spread betting markets.

How to get started with £200 FREE in your spread betting account!

The biggest and best spread betting company is Sporting Index – they offer the best range of markets and give you the best opportunity to profit. But that’s not all – they will also give you £200 Free to get started. Now as I said earlier, you can bet with stakes as low as a few pence when you are just starting out, so a free £200 really does go a long way!

You can find more details of this offer and sign up to Sporting Index by clicking the banner, or the link below to get started in the exciting and lucrative world of sports spread betting.

Remember the three golden rules – do your research, start small and control your risk. If you do this, you’ll be well on your way to regular sports spread betting profits!

Betfair Trading: A Beginner’s Guide

The Free Bet Advice beginner’s guide to profiting from the betting exchanges……

The arrival of the betting exchanges back in 2000 has completely transformed the world of online sports betting, bringing not only competition to the traditional bookmakers but also a world of exciting opportunity for the betting exchange trader.

It’s now possible to earn huge sums of money from the betting exchanges Betfair and Betdaq, not by betting but by trading the sports markets to guarantee a profit whatever the result!

Betting on the Betting Exchanges

For the traditional punter, Betfair and Betdaq offer a potentially more lucrative and stress free betting environment. There’s no longer any chance of having your account closed if you start winning too much. The bets you place are guaranteed, with no possibility of bets being refused or payouts withheld.

There’s also a difference in the punter’s bottom line – price. The exchanges bring competitive markets which in turn mean that quite often the punter can get better odds when backing to win on the exchanges than he can with a bookmaker, particularly in the horse racing markets.

In addition to being able to back a selection to win, the punter can now do completely the opposite and bet that it won’t win: this is known as laying it to lose.

Instead of putting down a stake and receiving a payout if the selection wins, a punter can now accept a stake and gets to keep the stake if the selection loses, paying out if it wins. Great news for those of us who can never seem to pick a winner!

However there is another way to use the betting exchanges which enables you to GUARANTEE A PROFIT regardless of whether your bet wins or loses.

Trading on the Betting Exchanges

What many people do not realise is that Betfair is not a bookmaker; it is a marketplace and is more similar to a stock exchange than a bookmaker.

A stock exchange provides a facility for people to buy and sell shares in a company at an agreed price. Betfair provides a facility for people to buy and sell bets at an agreed price.

Let me explain…..

Remember on the betting exchange you don’t bet against the exchange, you bet against other people.

All the liquidity in the exchange is provided by people just like you in various locations across the world. You don’t know who they are, they don’t know who you are. All you see is the money and the bid/ask (or back/lay) prices currently on offer.

When you back a selection, you are selling your bet to a layer.

Similarly, when you lay a selection, you are buying a bet from a backer.

On the betting exchange, just as on the stock exchange, market forces are at work and supply and demand means that prices are subject to change. If there are more people wanting to buy than to sell, the price will rise – and if there are more people wanting to sell than to buy, the price will fall.

With the facility for price movement, a share can be bought and sold on the stock exchange at different prices. This enables a stock market trader to guarantee a profit regardless of the performance of the underlying company whose shares are being traded.

Likewise, a bet can be bought and sold at different prices on a betting exchange. This enables the betting exchange trader to guarantee a profit regardless of the outcome of the underlying event.

So by trading rather than betting, you can achieve a position where you’re GUARANTEED to make a profit whatever the result of an event, before it’s even started!

Here’s what you’ll need to get started …

Many people trade professionally and can make huge incomes of over £100,000 per year. The secret to becoming a profitable betting exchange trader is to have the right tools (such as Bet Angel) and to practise, practise and practise some more until you can read the markets.

How to Make Big Profits from Failed Betting Systems

“At some point, most of us have seen a betting system that’s so bad it should never have been allowed to see the light of day. But don’t throw them away!

We’ll show you how the world’s worst betting systems can actually make the biggest profits…”

I hope you’re sitting comfortably, because today I’m going to tell you a story.

A few years ago, after receiving a promotional e-mail, a friend of mine spent around £100 on some horse racing backing system. I think it was called the Bluestreak System or something like that – I can’t quite remember, and oddly enough it doesn’t seem to be for sale any more. Why? Because it was complete and utter rubbish!

My friend of course didn’t know that at the time, so when her new system arrived, she set about reading the instructions in detail and using the selection method to back her horses each day. Well, just over a month later and her betting bank had been cut in half, she was upset and annoyed and the system was in the bin.

I asked to see the results of the bets she had placed via this system and sure enough, it looked like this particular selection method couldn’t pick a winner in a one horse race – and this was despite some of the prices being very short.

I remember thinking to myself “the bookies have had a field day here” and then it dawned on me – an idea so obvious I was mad at myself for not thinking of it earlier.

“Now that we have betting exchanges, we can be the bookie. So whenever we get an awful backing system, we can cash in by turning it into a laying system instead!”

Like I said, it’s so obvious when you think about it! If what you’ve been doing has lost you a load of money, just do the opposite!

So we retrieved the discarded backing system from the bin, and once we’d ironed out the creases, my friend and I set to work making her money back!

For the next 6 weeks, every day she went through the same selection method she’d been doing before, but this time when she had the selections, instead of backing them to win she went on to Betfair and laid them to lose instead.

We introduced a price restriction, so that any selections priced above 6.0 were ignored so as to keep the liabilities low. Other than that, we just did the opposite of what the failed system told us to do.

The result? Six weeks later we’d made all her money back and her account was in profit!

Inspired by this success, I decided to look back through all the betting systems I’d ever tried and then discarded due to them losing money. Those that had only lost a little bit of money I ignored, because to do the opposite of these systems that only narrowly failed would likely only result in me breaking even (due to commission etc).

No, instead I was looking for the real stinkers that had been so bad it was almost funny. And yes, I found a few that had made suitably big losses (the ironically named Cutting Edge system was a classic example).

So I started doing the same thing – following the original system to the letter, except when it came to placing the bets I just laid all the selections instead of backing them. And just as before, I was amazed at the profits I began to make.

“By just opposing the awful backing systems I’d thrown away, I had uncovered some of the most profitable laying systems I have ever used!”

I then took it one step further and realised that, of course, the same principle can apply to bad laying systems If you’ve ever followed a laying system that just keeps churning up consistent winners, why not start backing them all instead?

The story certainly has a happy ending. My friend is still using the reverse “Bluestreak System” to this day and it continues to perform really well as a laying system.

Makes you wonder why the author didn’t realise how bad it was and just sell it as a laying system in the first place…

“Absolutely anyone can give this a try”

At some point, most of us have bought, been given or heard of a betting system that has just performed really badly. So why not dig them out of the cupboard, or your computer’s recycle bin, and give this idea a try?

Instead of spending more time and money searching for a decent betting system, the answer may have been right under your nose all along!

Maybe those failed systems weren’t such a waste of money after all…….

IMPORTANT

If you’re going to be laying bets on Betfair, you should be using a separate Betfair account for each system you use.

This is really important because it allows you to separate the banks you use for each system and easily see how each one is performing, so never be tempted to just use the same account for more than one system.

Remember Betfair will let you have as many accounts as you like, and they will give you a free £25 each time you open a new one, so it is certainly in your best interests to do this.

Create Your Own Winning Sports
Betting System

“How would you like to get your hands on a proven, mega-profitable betting system that is absolutely unique to you and that nobody else in the world is using?”

If you’re interested in sports betting, you’ve probably spent a fair bit of time, money and effort searching for a winning system.

How many times have you opened up your e-mail inbox to be hit with breaking news – a new betting system has been released. Excited by the prospect of finally getting your hands on a winning system, you buy it, try it out and – surprise, surprise – it loses you money.

So, a couple of hundred pounds lighter, you go back to the drawing board and the search for a decent system continues.

If this sounds familiar, how about trying something different this time?

Wouldn’t you like to use a betting system that is truly unique? One that you KNOW for a fact has been well thought out and thoroughly tested to make certain it is profitable?

As the saying goes – if you want something done properly, do it yourself!

Perhaps it’s time you thought about creating your own system. It’s not as difficult as it may seem.

Many of the most successful sports betting professionals in the world follow exclusive, unique systems that they have designed themselves – and today I’m going to show you exactly how they do it.

Let’s get started….

Choose a sport you’re passionate about

Now as I said, the process of creating your own winning betting system is not difficult but it is going to require a little bit of time and effort to get it right, so you may as well choose a sport that you’re passionate about.

If you’re interested in the subject already, you’re more likely to put in the time that is required because you follow the sport anyway. Plus, it stands to reason you already have some knowledge of the sport which is going to help you come up with a few ideas to get started.

So if you’re a fan of football, rugby, racing, US sports or whatever – it makes sense to stick to what you know best.

You’ll have a better chance of success, and you’ll have more fun along the way.

How to come up with an original, unique idea

Every system starts with a hypothesis. A hypothesis is simply an idea or belief that is suitable for further investigation.

In this case, your hypothesis can be based either on your observations and knowledge of your chosen sports. How many times have you thought “games between those two teams are always high scoring” or “Nadal always beats Federer on clay” or “that trainer has a fantastic record with 2 year olds at this course?”

Or maybe you’ve been placing bets on your favourite sport before. Did you win or lose overall? You can base your hypothesis on previous bets that you’ve made that have either succeeded or failed.

Let’s take football as an example. If you’re watching a match with friends or family, you’ll hear all sorts of opinions expressed about the sport and you probably have some of your own…

Maybe you think there are always several yellow cards shown in local derbies. Maybe you think matches between teams at the top of the league are usually settled by one goal. This is the sort of thing you can start to base your system ideas on.

If you’re confused or unsure where to start, here are some examples which might help.

Some example hypotheses based on observations:

“Man Utd usually get a goal back when they fall behind”

“Barcelona score most of their goals in the first half”

“Liverpool always seem to score in the last 10 minutes of a match”

“Horses ridden by Jaime Spencer always hit the front at some point in the race”

Or some hypotheses based on bets you may have placed before:

“Short priced football trebles never seem to win, one team always draws or loses to spoil it”

“Favourites always seem get beaten handicap chases at Cheltenham”

Now these may be a suitable starting point for you, or maybe they give you some inspiration to come up with some ideas of your own. Remember we are only looking for ideas at this stage – patterns or observations that you have noticed while watching or betting on your favourite sport.

How to turn your idea into a system

OK, so you have your hypothesis. Now it’s time to turn it into a set of rules that might be used for a betting system.

Again, if you’re struggling to figure out how to do this, let’s take a look at how the example hypotheses I gave earlier might be used to come up with a set of betting system rules.

» “Man Utd usually get a goal back when they fall behind”
So whenever an opponent takes the lead against Man Utd, why not lay the opponent at reduced odds on the betting exchanges?

» “Barcelona score most of their goals in the first half”
If that’s the case, can we simply back “first half to have more goals” with the bookmakers? Or can we back “over 2.5 goals” at kick off with a view to reversing our bet if early goals are scored? Can we lay “over 4.5 goals” at half time if Barcelona have scored a few in the first half?

» “Liverpool always seem to score in the last 10 minutes of a match”
Can we lay “no more goals” on the betting exchanges after 80 minutes of the match have been played? We can lay at small odds with low liability, and win our bet when a late goal is scored.

» “Horses ridden by Jaime Spencer always hit the front at some point in the race”
Can we back horses ridden by Spencer before the race, and lay them in running at lower odds?

» “Short priced football trebles never seem to win, one team always draws or loses to spoil it”
Can we select trebles that we would normally back to win (but which often don’t) and instead, lay the treble using Betfair multiples?

» “Favourites always seem get beaten handicap chases at Cheltenham”
Can we lay the favourites either before the race or in running?

Again these are just examples and I’m not saying that these particular systems will or won’t work, but hopefully they will give you ideas of how to turn your hypotheses into a set of rules that make up a betting system.

OK, once you have your system rules, it’s time to put them to the test…

How to make sure your system is profitable

Great – you’ve got your idea and turned it into a betting system.

Now for the most important part – and…

… if you’ve ever bought a betting system which didn’t work, this is probably the part that the author didn’t bother to do.

You need to paper test your system without risking real money to make sure it works!

Now this is the part that most people want to skip, because it’s the only step that is anything like hard work, but please do not be tempted – you MUST do this.

It may require a little effort to collect enough results to properly test your systems, but always remember that putting it a little effort is much better than losing money!

In some cases it’s possible to back test your system ideas by using historical data to see how your system would have performed in the past. This is suitable particularly for horse racing systems where data about past runners and prices is readily and freely available online.

If your system is based around other sports such as football, rugby, cricket etc, you should be able to back test your system in terms of results but probably not in terms of prices/odds.

Of course the prices at which you place your bets are crucial and will determine whether or not your system is profitable long term, so you must buckle down and paper trade your system manually and record your results on paper.

I’m often asked how many results I would paper trade before deciding to use real money on my system. There is no definitive answer to this but as a general rule I would be looking for 3 months’ worth of results before I made a decision as to whether my system was likely to be successful.

Of course this depends on the frequency of your bets – if you’d only placed ten bets over the course of those 3 months then of course that isn’t a big enough sample to prove anything, so use some common sense and decide for yourself when you have enough data to confidently start staking real money.

How to start making money from your system

OK, so you’ve come up with an idea, turned it into a system, and you’ve been smart enough to test it properly on paper to see if it works. So how do those results look?

If your idea has worked out, congratulations – you’ll have a promising set of results which show that your system has real potential.

But even if your results are terrible then do not despair because all is certainly not lost!

If your results show that your system would have made a big loss, then how about doing the opposite? After all, the opposite to a big loss is a big profit, and remember that the betting exchanges allow you to bet that something will not happen by laying it!

Go over your results again and see what would have happened if you’d laid every bet instead of backing it, or vice-versa. It’s amazing how often you can turn losing systems into winning ones by doing this…

Another thing to consider is your staking strategy. If your results show that your system is profitable to level stakes then that’s great, but could you make it even more profitable by staking a percentage of your bank on each bet and re-investing your profits?

If your system has a high strike rate with few losing runs, could it be suitable for a partial loss recovery staking system? Run your results through a few different staking options and see how the effect the bottom line.

Once you’ve decided on the best staking system to use, you’re ready to start staking real money and enjoy the fruits of your labour as the profits start to roll in!

IMPORTANT

If your system uses Betfair, you should be using a separate Betfair account for each system you use.

This is really important because it allows you to separate the banks you use for each system and easily see how each one is performing, so never be tempted to just use the same account for more than one system.

Remember Betfair will let you have as many accounts as you like, and they will give you a free £25, each time you open a new one, so it is certainly in your best interests to do this.

If your system requires you to bet with the bookies rather than on the exchanges, remember that Free Bet Advice gives you all the latest free bets which you can use to give your betting bank an immediate boost. Why bet with your own money when the bookies will let you bet with theirs?

If you need more help…

Maybe you’re still struggling for ideas. If so, why not check out the Free Bet Advice Betting System Reviews to have a look at some commercially available betting systems.

The reviews will show you what works, and what definitely does not. This can prove to be invaluable information when you’re designing your own systems.

I hope you’ve found this article useful and that you can see the huge potential in designing your very own unique betting system.

Remember, all you need to do is follow the simple steps above you’ll have your hands on a proven, mega-profitable betting system that is absolutely unique to you and that nobody else in the world is using!

The profits are waiting to be made. Go for it!.
